Blog Comments – Finding Quality Blogs

Blog CommentsYou may know that one of the best ways to increase SEO for your website or blog is to create inbound links through Blog Comments. Of course, where you choose to leave a comment makes a difference.

Dofollow blogs are better than nofollow, for the most part. Another concern is the page ranking of the site. Sure you might be able to leave a dofollow link on a spam blog, but this provides no benefit and could even be a detriment.

Clearly it is important to build links through commenting on high ranking blogs. But how do you find them amidst millions of such sites on the internet? Here are some tips for getting you started.

Keywords

Perhaps the simplest way is to search for your most valuable keywords and visit your competitors. Don’t be shy about posting a Blog Comment on a site that sells the same products you do. Then again, even better would be to find blogs in the search results that are complementary to your site, or that focus on a specific niche different than yours.

Aggregates/Social Bookmarking Sites

Social bookmarking sites such as Technorati, Delicious, Stumbleupon, and others are aggregate sites that categorise blogs by content and popularity. These are good places to start finding high-rated blogs related to your own content. Technorati also contains a list of the top 100 blogs which can be sorted according to topic.

Then there are pure aggregation sites such as Google Blog Search. This is a great site to bookmark and visit on occasion. In the right sidebar it contains a list of hot queries, a good list to review when you need a topic for new content to post on your own blog.

Comment Luv

Another place to find comment-friendly blogs is through the Comment Luv website. If you are using this app, you can register your own site to be indexed here. It includes a listing of blogs verified to incorporate comment luv, which shows the headline of your latest blog post attached to your comment, and assures a dofollow status.

Blog Comment Software

If you own more than one e-commerce site or blog, you may want to consider investing in a more sophisticated tool to help you build links. FastBlogFinder is one that you can use in a limited fashion for free, or pay a nominal fee to download the full version.

The advantage of using software programs is that they provide a listing of blogs related to your keywords, show the dofollow or nofollow status, and even give you the ranking of the page, when it was last updated, and how many outbound links are contained on each.

Remember that when you are posting comments to build links, be courteous and take the time to actually read the posts and leave an intelligent comment. This is always appreciated. Most blog owners do their best to fight spam and rarely approve comments that are clearly created for link value only.

These tips should give you several places to go and find blogs related to your keywords where you can leave a Blog Comment with live links to your URL. Get some linking strategies in place – and watch your page ranking rise.

See you at the top of Google!

Can’t agree with you more here Sean. From your teachings I have come to understand that the internet marketing world is like a big community. I don’t have a problem with people commenting on my blogs for links back to their sites as long as the comments are genuine and thoughtful.

Another thing that I actually enjoy seeing if who is commenting on my site. The readers/commentators site may actually be really good and educational and this may potentially also offer something for me. As well as having another site that I could possibly form a JV with, or build another link from.

    • Hi Cemil,

Great to hear you are seeing the big picture of internet marketing. As well as the backlinks, blog commenting is a type of social networking in itself… and done right, there can be many opportunities arise from conversing with your readers via blog comments.

      Regards – Sean

FastBlogFinder gave me an industry related blog with commentluv and dofollow and when I commented, the blog owner sent me an email inviting me to comment frequently. I was very impressed. I guess he appreciates quality comments.

  3. Hi Sean,

I think that leaving great blog comments is an excellent way to build backlinks. I just think it’s important to take the time to find blogs that you will genuinely like to read.

After all, blog comments are not just about the links. They give you a chance to build a relationship with the blog owner and be part of the community.

Still, getting high PageRank backlinks are pretty exciting.

    Hi Sean,

I have just recently started visiting other people’s blog sites and leaving comments after reading articles that really interested me. You suggested finding quality blogs, and so far they have been as they all belong to people in the YOTA Forum.

I know that I can build links this way and visa versa, but I really like the interaction with other people too, reading their ideas and comments which is always very interesting and educational.

As I start to populate my blog with more articles I hope it will attract people who like to comment too.

  5. I think I prefer this to forums. I have just Googled for blogs in my areas of interest and focus and it has come up with heaps for me to explore…. and hopefully comment in.

  6. It has just become clear to my why I get so much spam. Surely people who are familiar with online marketing would know that leaving comments on peoples sites which are irrelevent will be quickly put into the spam folder, or are these comments put on automatically with special software.

If you are getting loads of spam, it very well could be from automated software Jackie. They work on percentages, if they send out 1000 comments and 10 get approved they feel they have had a win :-(
