It takes quite a bit of time and effort to create Online Videos for your internet marketing efforts. Today, videos are easier to create, upload and load on the screen than ever. Web 2.0 is all about interactivity and video is a big part of that.
Once you’ve created videos, of course you want people to see them. Just like a website requires some effort to get traffic to it, the same can be said for online videos.
A little bit of effort can go a long way and if you’ve done the video well, you’ll find that you can get a lot of people to not just look at it and visit your site for more information, but they’ll probably help you get others to that video as well.
How Do You Get More Traffic To Your Videos?
1. Optimising your videos for search engines is fairly easy. You should utilise SEO keywords in your title and when you submit the video anywhere be sure you write an enticing description of the video with the right combination of interest and keyword usage. That way people and search engines will be compelled to visit.
2. If you’re using social media tools to promote things, you can promote Online Videos here as well. Share your links to your videos in your life streaming tools and publicly bookmark on social media sites the URL where the video lives with appropriate descriptions and tags so that people reading your public bookmarks will visit.
3. Video blogging – Post a link to an interesting video (or embed the video itself) on a high profile blog.
4. Post your videos to high traffic sites like YouTube and MySpace.
5. Purchase a subscription to a service that distributes your videos.
6. Submit your videos to video directories.
7. Post your videos on video sharing sites (some of these will even share revenue with you!)
8. Use all the social marketing tools you can find in your niche to link to your video.
9. Ask your online friends to share the link to your video via social bookmarking sites.
10. Put your video directly in your sales page and optimise the sales page for required keywords.
Online Videos can drive traffic to your site and your site can drive traffic to your video. A good video will get viral traffic because people will bookmark it and share it.
Video marketing is a sure way to increase your chances of online success. Even if you are camera shy, you can find people to appear on your video or simply make a video presentation with your voice (and not your face).
See you at the top of Google!

Hi Sean,
These are all excellent tips. I’ve started to experiment with Camtasia but it’s still a little weird hearing my own voice. I know I hear it everyday, it just sounds different when it’s recorded. Still, I’m sure I’ll put it out there soon and see how it goes.
Also, I didn’t realise there were video directories. Still, so much stuff to learn.
Most people think their own voice sounds a little strange when recorded Jazz… I sure do
The good thing is that it sounds “normal” to others.
I am really wanting to get into the video side of IM. I am observing that a webinar on the subject is coming up soon and I look forward eagerly to watching that. I like short and to the point videos. So much to do I don’t want to spend 10 minutes watching a video that has only 1 minute of useful information. My favorite youtube video teaches entire high school calculus in 20 minutes.

I believe that using videos in your marketing efforts pays off. People like to have a higher level of interaction over just words on a page.
I have been toying with the idea of creating some video content to post to my blog on a regular basis. I am currently making a list of different things that I believe would benefit from having a video rather than words, such as tutorials and will be recording them pretty soon.
I like the idea of video sharing sites that share revenue
You will have to let us know the best one’s Sean

Hi Cemil,
I think doing video tutorials are a great idea. I’d love to see you do some as you know a lot of great stuff. It would be great to pass that knowledge on as I’m sure it would help you get more readers for your blog.
Also I’m with you; I’d love to know which are the best video sharing sites that share revenue.

An excellent list of tips on “getting traffic to your online videos”. Another one to be printed of and placed in my Learn and Earn notebook.
Currently the only videos I’ve linked to on any of my sites have been family ones and those that have been taken by people attending Grateful We’re Not Dead performances. Nothing very professional.
If someone is hesitant to appear in their own videos, they can shoot a video of the product they are promoting and then do a voice over. All the tools for video production are easily available. And if you don’t want to lay out a lot of cash you can find open source tools online that will work just as good if not better than some of the commercial ones.
And one final piece of advice – keep the camera steady!

Hi Sean
Another really fantastic article with a list of 10 ways to get traffic to your video. As I read through them all I realised that it would not be difficult to use all those avenues.
The great thing about a video is that you only have to do it once and if it is compelling enough it can be a very powerful marketing tool. I love to look at ‘how to do…’ videos on YouTube for instance.
The other positive thing about video’s is that they can have a nice personal touch if you present the material yourself on the video. I am definitely interested in producing training videos downstream.
Thankyou

Hi Sean,
I have put up a video on one of my posts on Fraser Island,
For a first effort I thought it was ok next thing I will have to do is check out Camtasia and see what I can learn there, before I try again.
Hi Sean,
I really like the idea of using videos to advertise my blog and vice versa. I’m rather camera shy though, and uncertain about my voice. Most likely I will overcome reservations in time.
Using the tips here I’ll be producing great online video for advertising and driving traffic to my blog. Videos are great for getting a message across online. I would not want to miss this opportunity to interact with friends and customers.

Video seems to be the way to go … So thanks for the tips to create traffic for my (future) online videos.
I wasn’t aware of pure video directories, but it makes a lot of sense. I will check them out for ideas for my first own video

I believe too that it is very easy to get No 1 rankings on Google videos with very little effort. I find it amusing watching some people’s daily blogs on video – but for information a lot of the time it is easier to watch then read – even though watching will take longer – but that is great too as they stay on your site for longer !
This is an area which i really need to develop – byt my list of things which I really need to develop is very long at the moment
