When you own an online business, accomplishing all the little tasks involved in both selling and marketing can seem like a daunting task that takes more than the 24 hours in a day. This is especially true when you’re doing Internet Marketing on a part-time basis.
The best way to fit all the tasks you need to do in a day is to work smarter, not harder. This short guide provides some ideas for making your Internet Marketing tasks just a bit easier and less time-consuming.
1. Autoresponders
In this age of advanced computer technology, there is no need to try to respond to each person who shows an interest in your business personally. Autoresponders that send an automatic message based on certain criteria are one way of freeing up a lot of time.
Autoresponders can be configured to respond to your online contact us form or your sign-up form. Your contact us form should have a drop-down list of categories, when someone simply wants more information, you can automatically have a sales letter or brochure sent to the inquirer’s email address. The same holds true for anyone registering at your site, an autoresponder can send them an initial welcome message with attachment, if you wish.
The autoresponder software can actually create an entire sales funnel for you so that you can simply slide your customers into that funnel and let your copywriting skills do the selling.
2. Syndication
If you write articles or press releases to promote your business, you can send one version out to a variety of different places on the internet. If you can establish a good base of several URLs where your content can be posted, it becomes easy to send one piece to all of them and multiply your efforts.
If possible, choose a selection that posts the articles with non-indexing instructions for search engine spiders so that it won’t be seen as duplicate content used in black hat SEO. (Not all sites offer this option so you may want to do 20% rewriting in that case)
3. Viral Marketing
Instead of trying to promote your content all by yourself, let others do it for you. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is through social bookmarking sites. With a simple widget, you can send your blog posts to a variety of bookmarking websites. When you’ve built up a good following of fans, they will often spread the news for you – making your marketing efforts truly viral.
4. Blog Software Tools
Just like autoresponders, there are a variety of other software tools available on the internet for free that will make the job of marketing much simpler.
If you ping your content to let the search engines you’ve posted something new, try bookmarking a link to a site like Pingomatic. All you have to do is enter the URL of your blog and it automatically sends it out to 23 search engines. If you have a WordPress blog, this is included in the newer versions of the platform.
Blog widgets provide some handy tools, too. You can broadcast your Twitter, Friendfeed, and Facebook and other social networking entries to most blogs regardless of platform. Some widgets allow you to stream video and audio content from other devices or sites such as Skype or Flickr. These tools cut down on the amount of different posts you need to create to keep your blog updated and fresh.
With so many free tools and gadgets available, your Internet Marketing need not take all the time out of your day. You’ll find new tools on a constant basis that can help you do more with less effort.
See you at the top of Google!

Being retired is a full time job so any tips on “saving time with internet marketing” are certainly welcome. I must admit I never thought of the syndication approach and I’d never heard of Pingomatic. Definitely marketing tools to be seriously considered.

Anything that saves time is a winner for me! I have an autoresponder set up and going – it makes life so much easier – once ste up it does all the work thereafter, except write the newsletter pages!
I also use pingomatic weekly and sometimes pingler. Figure it can’t hurt.
What I do need to grasp is the social bookmarking widget – off to explore that now.
Automating parts of your on-line business will free up your time for other interests…..
Like the auto responders Aweber is a well used one..
Yes, I like AWeber too – it is easy than others I have tried and reasonable price
Hi Sean
Time is our most valuable commodity, something we cannot afford to waste. So if I can work more economically to free up time for other leisure pursuits then I am all ears. Work smarter not harder is one of my most favourite sayings.
I love the idea of autoresponders as you can still personalise them and make them user friendly. Pingomatic sounds amazing and I haven’t known what it actually did until now.
I do need to start getting involved in more social bookmarking sites as this has been a bit of a grey area for me. All these suggestions in your article I will definitely pursue as they are all great time savers.
Thankyou
Blessings,
Elly
