Does Your Landing Page Need An Overhaul

Landing Page Does your Landing Page need a facelift or overhaul? Maybe. But it’s actually more likely that it just needs a few tweaks.

What you might do, instead of scrapping it and starting over, is to tweak, and run a few landing pages and do some split testing.

Why Tweak And Split Test

Many internet marketers delete their existing landing page because they’re getting low conversion rates and then suddenly they find that they’re doing even worse. Why? If you’re getting a decent level of traffic, it might be better to do a few tweaks to a page rather than write it from scratch.

If you’ve got high conversion rates and low traffic, you need more traffic. But if you’re getting a decent level of traffic but not many sales, you don’t want to lose your traffic – you just want to be a little bit more compelling.

Your existing Landing Page is optimised for search engines and if you change it drastically, you could lose the rankings and organic traffic you’re now getting. Small tweaks and split testing could be a better solution. Tweaking and making small changes to see if there’s an improvement is a good idea before doing anything to drastic. That way, you can measure as you go and make more educated decisions.

Keeping with an existing theme and set of key phrases while making small changes could help you dramatically, because all it could take is something like: a new sentence, a new font, a tweak to the first paragraph, an additional paragraph that expands on a particular point, or a new call to action. Something simple could be enough to convince a reader to buy.

If you want to take a new sales letter approach, it might be a good idea to run a different landing page. Many successful internet marketers have several landing pages on the same website. Different pay per click campaigns and organic marketing efforts could point browsers to various pages depending on several factors. Everything on your website could contribute to its success and as different pages will bring the search engine spiders in. Different keywords, targeting different audiences, and trying out varying strategies could all help you improve your online sales.

Analyse Your Stats

Analysing your website statistics could help you determine whether or not your bounce rate is high, whether people do dig deeper, what your exit points are, and how people arrive on your Landing Page. Every little bit of knowledge you can gain from your stats could help you make decisions that help you increase traffic and up your sales.

See you at the top of Google!

  1. Hi Sean,

This is great advice. Should my landing page stay up for at least a month before I make any changes to it? With split-testing, how many landing pages should I be testing at one time?

Do you keep it to just two and make a different change to each? If I only make one change at a time, how long should I wait for results? I’m sure that I’d make changes too soon so I’m just wondering what’s a fair amount of time to wait and see.

Testing will depend a bit on how much traffic you get from your keywords Jazz. Generally a couple of weeks should provide you with some good statistics on what is working best.

    Hi Sean

At the moment my landing page needs to be finished and then I can start looking into all these helpful suggestions. I certainly understand what you are teaching us here and now I know how to optimise my blog for search engines, attract more people and get more conversions by just making small changes first and testing them out.

I really like the information about analysing with website statistics.

    Thankyou.

    Blessings,
    Elly
