As an internet marketer, are you setting goals to achieve internet marketing success? If so, are they achievable? While it can be a good thing to dream big, you should also set small and measurable goals as well. As you attain these smaller goals, you can get closer to your ultimate goals.
A lot of people who dabble in internet marketing (but also in any business) never get their business off the ground due to a lack those small goals. Some set goals so huge that because reaching those goals seem so far away, many of them give up before they have an opportunity to “get there”.
If you work on achieving small goals, you aren’t so far away that you feel like a failure because there’s such a gap between what you want and where you are that it’s hard to see how you’ll get there.
Those get rich quick schemes that are out there leave you feeling like a failure when you don’t achieve overnight success. You need realistic income earning opportunities and you also need to measure online success along your journey.
Internet Marketing Success – Goals To Consider
• Creating a blog or website.
• Getting traffic.
• Increasing your internet marketing education by reading a certain number of articles a day related to the industry or spending a certain time “studying” per day.
Then, you might get more ambitious…
• Write a certain amount of content daily / weekly.
• Do a certain amount of linking, social marketing / self-promotion.
Next, you might look to…
• Achieve page one rankings on Google for certain keywords.
• Make a certain number of sales daily/weekly/monthly.
After you’ve reached small milestones, you should congratulate yourself, re-assess, and then set new goals and challenges for yourself. By breaking it down into measurable and attainable goals, you give yourself permission to learn as you go, to make mistakes, and to grow your online business at a sustainable pace.
Overnight internet marketing success happens to a very small percentage of the population. Giving up before getting a real chance to reach success happens to a very large percentage of the population.
If you start off with a learning process in mind and dedicate yourself to going through that process, not only will you increase your chances of internet marketing success but you’ll find the journey enriching and rewarding along the way.
Have a most outstanding day.

Hi Sean,
I believe that goal setting is an important part of life in general because it always helps to have something to work towards even if your goals are very simple ones. Hitting those little milestones really allows me to feel like I am achieving something and it’s a great motivator to keep going towards the bigger goals.
You’re on the money there Jeremy, without goals, we have nothing to aim for
Hi Sean
I really like this post, thankyou so much for taking the time and effort to write this as it has boosted my enthusiasm even more.
I have been a big dreamer and a small dreamer at times in my life but I now stay a big dreamer, with a plan. I have learned to chunk things down and the recent IMPOTY webinar with Lee gave me precise instructions on how to really manage my time and my big dreams and I dedicated most of last week to scheduling my time and life. It works!
I can see that there are certain steps we all need to take to reach the goal to become highly successful and highly profitable internet marketers. You have very kindly pointed these out which shows me I am definitely on track even though we will not all be on the same steps as
each other, it just qualifies that we are all headed in the right direction under your guidance.
Grateful for all your dedication,
Blessings’

Thanks for this blog Sean.
Sometimes I get discouraged and overwhelmed at just how much there is to learn regarding internet marketing. I can see giving ourselves permission to learn at a realistic pace ( with the time we have available) is a formula for success. Add a bit of perseverance and life isn’t so confusing after all.
I am determined to be a success at this however long it takes my brain to “get it”.

There certainly is a lot to learn David. Once you choose what direction you want to go and have a plan of action, taking it one step at a time is the way to go
Hi Sean,
I think internet marketing success is possible for all of us. We just need to set some small goals and get started working towards them. Once we hit them, we need to set more goals and move forward.
I think the problem is that there is so much to learn to be a successful internet marketer that people get overwhelmed. Also, when you keep trying and trying for no reward; it’s really disheartening.
So, thanks for reinforcing that it’s a journey and if we work at it, we will arrive at our destination.
