Email Marketing – Tools And Best Practices

Email Marketing ToolsEmail marketing can be a very powerful tool for reaching potential clients. While you can do it yourself manually, you may want to consider investing in some of the many Email Marketing Tools offered online that make your email messages look professional and automate many of the tasks involved.

The Email Subscriber List

You may already have a permission-based email list built for your company, or you may not. Either way, it is important to manage the subscribers.

Beware of buying lists, as the laws regarding unsolicited contact vary by country. Send an email to the wrong person and you could find yourself in violation of the law and facing a hefty fine.

You can find many email marketing software programs online – some free, some for a fee. They are an excellent way to keep track of your subscribers, categorise them, and automatically delete addresses that bounce. Make sure you find one that allows for various fields; the more information you can enter about a subscriber, the more personalised and targeted your email marketing becomes.

Creating Your Email Message

Anyone can create an email message. Put a header on it, write some content, add a link and send it. But does it look professional? Will it get by the spam controls on the receiver’s email program or ISP? Is it eye-catching? Does it contain an easy way to forward to the receiver’s contacts?

Comprehensive Email Marketing Tools make it easier to create an email message that accomplishes all of these goals. Choose a template, add your header, logo, and content, and one click sends it to all the subscribers you select. This is a great way to increase branding of your company and make all your messages easily identifiable. You will also be able to format the message as plain text or HTML and schedule the sending.

Take care in writing the content. If your only intent is to sell a product or service offered by your company, include a compelling reason for the recipient to do so. Give them a discount, a limited time offer, or anything else that urges them to take action. Remember to intersperse interesting and informational emails in between so that not every message is a blatant sales pitch.

Email Marketing Tools – Tracking Your Success

How can you tell if your efforts at email marketing are successful? Here again, a software program accomplishes this for you. It will track the send-through rate, the click-through rate of links, and how many times the message bounced.

These statistics are powerful tools. Examine the results of each message you send and determine what type of content is most successful. Experiment with the subject line; this is really the most important part of your message. Without a compelling subject line, chances are your email will be deleted immediately. It could also go straight to the junk folder if certain “hot” words ( such as FREE) are used.

As stated previously, there are software programs you can find online that are both free and fee-based. List marketing becomes a whole lot easier when you use Email Marketing Tools to automate processes and track the results of your campaign.

See you at the top of Google!

  1. Thank you for the post. It gives great tips about how to create and send email marketing campaigns. A successful email marketing campaign consists of 3 elements: opt-in list of subscribers, good email newsletter including an opt-out link and a good program to manage bounces and unsubscribe requests.

I agree that in email marketing it’s important to have a permission-based mailing list. The easiest way to build a list is to place a signup form somewhere on the website or blog and let people subscribe to a newsletter. And email marketing software is a must-have tool for everyone who is serious about online business.

A good email marketing software must allow easily and quickly send email newsletters and manage contact lists. Plus, some programs have built-in unsubscribe features and allow tracking email campaigns that is very helpful for email marketers.

Thankyou for that information. It is always helpful when someone has used a service and then promotes it.

I have taken note and will keep that information for when I do my own email marketing.

  4. Hi Sean,

I think it’s time I got involved in email marketing. From everything I read Aweber is the best to use. I’m just not sure I feel comfortable writing my own email messages or newsletters.

But, I guess I can easily pay someone to write them for me. How many subscribers should I have before I start sending them emails and newsletters?

    Hi Sean

I have not yet considered email marketing even though I know it can be very lucrative in many instances.

I can also see the importance and efficiency of using email and building a list this way too.

I have taken note of what you have said here and saved the link for a future time and will revisit when I am ready to start my own campaign.

    Thankyou

    Blessings

  8. I am growing tired of emails coming in everyday stating how I can earn $35000 in the next half hour simply by following their steps. I think to make email marketing work, you really need to build up a repall with the person before you start shoving products down their throat.
