Blogs can be amazing tools for affiliate marketing, contextual advertising revenue and many other things. Get more blog traffic and you increase your chances of making more money.
Follow this three step plan to increase your blog traffic and you’ll see a big difference fairly quickly.
If you don’t know much about blogging, you’ll want to learn how to blog and develop effective blogging strategies to help you make the most of the traffic you’ll soon get with the below steps.
A Few Tips
Hopefully you’re posting several times a week and hopefully you’re encouraging conversations and participating in those conversations in the blog comments. And hopefully you’ve got a prominently placed RSS or newsletter button and try to entice visitors to subscribe.
Now that you’ve done all that and are writing great stuff that people want to read about, you’ll want to follow the below steps on a weekly basis, at least. The more often = the more blog traffic.
Step 1: Submit Articles.
Step 2: Social Bookmarking.
Step 3: Repeat.
Submit Articles For Blog Traffic
If you’re a blog author, hopefully you’ve got a niche and you know which keywords you should try to rank for. Pick a few for starters (say 5) and write articles around those keyword phrases. As you get more blog traffic, continue to expand your keyword strategy.
Write articles that would interest people who might buy the things you sell on your blog. Write a 2-3 sentence byline at the end and use anchor text links to link people back to your blog. Link to your blog’s landing page and to a deep link. Submit those articles to directories such as: Ezinearticles.com, Goarticles.com, Articlesbase.com, and others. It’s best to only submit each article to one directory, if you want to submit to multiple directories, it will pay you to rewrite each article and change the title etc.
On sites such as Ezinearticles.com, don’t forget to set your account to notify social media accounts, such as Twitter when articles are published. This will save you time and help you get more traffic to those articles!
Get More Blog Traffic With Social Bookmarking
Every time you publish a new blog post, submit it to social bookmarking tools. Some of the top bookmarking sites to include are: StumbleUpon, Digg, Mixx, Reddit, Diigo, Delicious, and others. Bookmark your posts and you’ll attract search engines and potential people to visit the site.
Don’t forget to write compelling headlines so you’ll entice people to click. Don’t hesitate to submit those article directories links to bookmarking sites as well!
Repeat
If you write blog posts regularly, write optimised articles for syndication on article directories, and use bookmarking tools on a regular basis, you will get more blog traffic. Key ingredients are: good content, keyword research, and an injection of charm and personality and you’ll find that your traffic will surge and if you’ve developed good blog monetization strategies, your income will surge, too!
See you at the top of Google!

I’m not sure how you submit blog posts to social bookmarking sites, but before I get to that point I have to write a current blog !
Once I’ve done that I will investigate that step.
The contents and tips in this article will find me doing a lot more research so I can manage to get it all together.
I did make an attempt to include an RSS feed on my latest post but, I was not sure of what to put in the link. Thanks for the tip on comments because I have a feeling that at the moment it is not switched on.
Success on all counts is the goal I am striving for. Flying high!

RSS feed. I confuse I still haven’t got to knowing what that is yet.
Well done for getting out there and striving for success. The traffic will only come flooding in.
Great example to us other newbies.
Hi Sean,
I’m trying to get more blog traffic. I am doing all of the things you suggest but I could be doing them better. I am still not being consistent enough. This is one of the reasons that I’m really enjoying this competition.
It’s giving me a chance to review everything and start fresh in some areas that I’ve been struggling with.

Top tips here on increasing traffic flow..
Write at least 2 articles per week and add them to social media sites .
Then repeat…Yes once you have a success repeat it…
I would add to that and say consider submitting articles to EzineArticles – at least 2-5 a day if you can manage it – it’s a “free” way to generate traffic and build a list
Thanks for this great information Sean.
I’m very excited as I’ve just recently had my first article approved by ezine articles
.
My goals are to start posting on a regular basis, and to stay focused on the task at hand. I find that there is so much interesting stuff to learn, that I can wander off into cyber space, and then a couple of hours later, realise that I haven’t done the task that I set out to do!

Hi Hilary,
Congratulations on getting you first article approved. I know what you mean about staying focused. I’ll be looking for information or submitting something to a bookmarking site and something will catch my eye.
I don’t mean to get sidetracked but there’s just so much great stuff to read online. So, sometimes it can take a while to get things done.

Some excellent ideas you have outlined here on how to get more blog traffic. I use some of these strategies and you have enlightened me on to some others.

Hi Sean,
This article is certainly a good reminder to make regular blog posts.
I’m wondering, can I submit to article directories such as Enzinearticles a blog that has already been published and even if they’re months old?
I guess the article directories rules would answer this question.
Thanks Sean,
I like the 3 simple steps you have outlined here:
Step 1: Submit Articles.
Step 2: Social Bookmarking.
Step 3: Repeat.
This is a simple and free way to generate traffic & it really comes down to how much effort you put into it. Submitting articles is very easy once you have done it a couple of times and there are a few social bookmarking services out there that can help with bookmarking too.
Four weeks ago I would not have a clue what you were talking about in this article, just goes to show how fast one can learn.

Hi Sean,
before learning from you I didn’t have a clue about these simple steps to get more blog traffic. And I have to admit – it works!
I haven’t written that many articles yet, but the few that are out there create a nice number of hits to my blog. Also being active on all kinds of social media has paid out for me nicely already.

Hi Sean,
just had a look at the bookmarking sites. Some very interesting sites! Thanks for the hint, Sean.
Hi Sean,
It all ties together more and more as we progress further down the path of learning.
Blogging regularly – er … I need to pick up my game I think. It is easy to forget to do it unless one has a set routine – or schedule and i have been meanin to do that since last week. Procrastination is alive and well here … but, it is going to die!
Neglecting blogs also lets down readers who may be coming to my blog for useful information and if I don’t offer that, then I can’t expect them to see me as reliable and this will hurt if I ever promote a product.
Good point Peter. I’ve created mine and been busy off connecting it up in a number of places and have also neglected to put some more interesting posts on it.
Phew! So much to remember.

Congrats on the first blog! If it has useful and interesting content your readership will increase and more so as you apply SEO tactics – including good longtail keywords.
You will also find it fun if it is a topic/niche you are interested in – it’s amazing how ideas arise from the creative juices once you get going. And, let’s face it, we all like to share our know how and that gets us writing.
That’s great Tegan! First of many to come.
You’ll notice that Sean mentions content a fair bit. If you continually produce high quality content, the readers will come. In the mean-time you can entice them with social media

I have just had a look at your blog. Well done on your choice of banners or in customising it (if you did that) to suit your content. Having people comment means you have captured their interest and given them something worth reading.
The other thing, Tegan, is when you are writing about that you are really ‘engaged’ in then it will come throught in what you write and therefore attract like-minded people. They will be the ones that comment.
Just wanted to thank you guys for all the nice comments and for looking at the blog! Its really encouraging as you say to be around like minded people such as yourselves. It only makes you want to blog more!

Yes, I agree. The virtue of Sean’s blogs are that they are short, sweet and to the point. No excess verbiage and they have rich content
Sean’s blogs also have a good variety of useful topics catering for a range of user abilities that I think body can learn something from.
Make sure you let others in on the awesome things they could learn to improve their internet marketing knowledge which will in turn help grow their business.
Getting more blog traffic in 3 easy steps makes learning about this so much easier.
That seems to be all internet marketers biggest worry when they first start out, so for me this is a timely piece of advice.
I have been following all of the advice and getting there, slowly but surely.
Cath
Hi Sean
Thank you for your advice on how to increase blog traffic.
You suggest writing several articles per week and posting them on various social sites and article directories. I am a bit confused, I thought that you were not allowed to duplicate posts, so if I wrote one post per week, can I still send it to a variety of sites or do I have to have one specific post to one site, then a different one to another etc?.
I really do like the ideas and suggestions in this article and I have bookmarked this for reference
Elly, I have done that and not been picked up or slapped for duplicate content. However, I only did it for a while and stopped and focussed on EzineArticles.
Some directories will state straight out that they only accept original material – EzineArticles, have a system that detects duplicate material – so post there first if you do multiple submissions of the same article.
The benefit of submitting to other than EzineArticles is for backlinks rather than traffic and list building
Sorry Elly, I may have come across the wrong way in the article. What I meant to say was “submit those articles to directories” and I will adjust the post now
. For maximum link quality and to avoid having your articles rejected, it’s always a good idea to submit unique articles, whether they have been re-written or are completely unique.
Hi Elly
Make sure your articles are different so that you don’t get penalized for duplicate content.
Sean is talking about posting articles (unique) at different sites to generate traffic from different sources.
Regards
Gee
