If you are already an avid internet user in addition to being an online entrepreneur, then you have the means to increase your page rankings and drive traffic to your website through Blog Commenting.
More and more, the internet is rapidly becoming a collection of blogs on a full range of topics and it is easy to see why.
Blogs are simple to set up and maintain, they promote networking and are a great strategy to use as part of your internet marketing program.
Need some information on why you should start commenting on blogs and tips for finding the best ones? Read on.
Benefits Of Blog Commenting
The number one benefit of leaving comments on blogs is that it creates a link to your website. These inbound links are a great way to increase page ranking. They also boost the authority level of your site – the more places a search engine bot can find references to your URL, the greater your authority.
Another way it benefits the commenter is that it builds a social network. If you find a blog you truly like and go back to it regularly, then you will soon be viewed as a permanent fixture. This creates an excellent opportunity to open a dialogue with other visitors to the site, and the site owner, as well as to bring that blog’s visitors to your own blog.
Finding And Selecting Blogs
Commenting on just any blog is probably not going to do much good for the purposes of marketing your online presence. Since Blog Commenting takes time and effort on your part, select the ones with which you wish to participate carefully.
Start by doing a search for the keywords that are most effective for your own website. You can do this simply by inputting the keywords into a search engine and scrolling through the top results.
A more focused way to find blogs specifically related to your keywords is to use a tool. There are several free ones, such as Google Blog Search or Fast Blog Finder, available online. Input your selected keyword phrases and the software will produce a list of related blogs.
Another advantage to using a tool is that you can determine which blogs are “dofollow” and which are “nofollow”. A dofollow blog means that the URL information you add to your comment can be clicked on (followed) by another viewer – thus driving visitors to your web pages.
If the blog also utilises the CommentLuv plug-in, it will automatically display the description of your latest blog post to entice others to visit.
A nofollow blog is not necessarily one to shy away from. If you comment there, you will still get the benefit of creating another place on the internet where your site is referenced.
Page ranking is another concern. A blog finder tool will often include page rank along with follow status. The more comments you can make at higher ranking blogs, the greater the benefit for the purposes of SEO.
Remember to practice good etiquette when leaving a comment. Simply writing “great site” is not the way to endear yourself to the blog owner, and could cause your comment to be caught in the spam filter. Read the post and leave a comment that intelligently discusses the topic.
Blog Commenting is one of the easiest, cheapest ways you can market your online business. All it takes is a bit of effort and time on your part. The results in increased traffic and page ranking are well worth the expenditure.
See you at the top of Google!

Hi Sean,
I think that blog commenting is a great way to get some exposure for your blog. It also helps you to build relationships with other blog owners and start to build your online presence.
Everyone wants their work to be appreciated. I think if you can show a genuine appreciation through your comments and bookmarking of their posts, it can go a long way to building a mutually beneficial relationship.
Also, commenting on high PageRank blogs gives you some powerful backlinks.

Blog commenting is a reasonably easy task. All this is required is that you can read, you can think and you can write at least one coherent, intelligent, relevant sentence. And I am not trying to be sarcastic here. Those are the three required steps for blog commenting:
1. read
2. think
3. write

Very simple and easy point Don. It still amazes me as to how much spam comments are generated, when taking 2 minutes to read an article and make a sensible comment would actually get the comment approved.

Hi Don,
You’re helpful, and it’s true, when you think about it. 3 easy steps to successful commenting.
When I first started commenting on blogs though it was rather daunting and slightly overwhelming. That’s because I thought I had to “know” the subject and comment as an “expert” to be of any value to the blog.
I discovered that I am not expected to know the subject. The idea is that I am there to learn something from the article. After knowing this the pressure was lifted and commenting for me became a pleasure.

Finding blogs in my niche and commenting them is great in more than just one way:
- I learn more about my niche and gain knowledge
- I can share the things I know and exchange with people with the same interest
- I get exposure to people that read this other blog and are interested in my niche
- I get backlinks to my blog
So – it is definitely a great idea to go out there, find some well-ranked blogs in my niche and write some good, valuable comments.

Blog commenting is really useful for the commenter but our comments need to add value to the blog. Creating links to our website is great but it needs to be done to well to build yourself a good name.

Great post on blogging. I had no idea that leaving a post on someone’s blog creates a link to your own – or at least not taken notice but will do next time.
Another good use for the keyword research.
Commenting on a few relevant blogs is definately something I will be doing a lot more of. I never did this before but you have outlined the benefits on blog commenting perfectly.
