Self Promotion is vital in Affiliate Marketing. That’s how people will come to click your links and earn you commission.
Free online pages are great promotional tools and creating online pages through blogs, HubPages, Squidoo lenses and other free online article sites such as article directories can get you traffic to your links.
This can be more likely to happen if you promote your pages to bring people and search engines to them.
Here are four ways to do that:
1. Social Bookmarking
Social bookmarking your affiliate pages can get you traffic both from people and from search engines. You can use a lot of tools to bring in traffic. Consider the bookmarking services as well as using live streaming services as well to post your links to your pages. After each page you post, choose at least one service to bookmark it to.
2. MicroBlogging
MicroBlogging sites like Twitter, FriendFeed, and Plurk present a great opportunity to show your pages to others. As part of your updates and your live streaming you can update your status or your ‘what I’m doing’ to show your latest pages. You can also place widgets that list your articles and / or updates to your live stream accounts.
3. Guest Posting
Guest Posting on other people’s blogs can be a great way to get new followers of your own. Write a great article that is interesting and useful and where you can place a link or two in your bio. Also, for further link building efforts, consider linking to your Squidoo /HubPages / Ezinearticles profile instead of just to your website.
4. Linking
When you do any social activities online you can find opportunities to link back to your various Affiliate Marketing pages. Doing a bit of promotion every day can add up to Backlinks and traffic. You can link in your daily blogging, for example, to your affiliate pages when an opportunity presents itself.
You can also do this when blog commenting on other people’s blogs and have discussions in forums. You don’t want to do this in a ‘spammy’ way but if you’re having a conversation about a topic and it makes sense to point them to a link to your Facebook fan page, or to a great article you wrote about a particular topic, do it.
On your Affiliate Marketing pages you can also link to other pages within that site as well as at other sites you utilise. Adding RSS feeds to your free pages that direct visitors to blogs or other places they can find you is a great idea.
A lot of free sites offer widgets so wherever you can find a place to promote widgets that feed to your recent pages is a great idea. You can add widgets and feeds to your free online pages from other free online pages.
See you at the top of Google!

Hi Sean,
I like the idea of self promotion. My logic is that if I don’t promote myself then the great possibility is that no one else will.
I am wondering, can self promoting be also effective by inviting a guest to post an article on my blog. I’m thinking it could be beneficial if especially the article is related to content in my blog.
Could this be true Sean?
As an aspiring internet marketer, you do have to market yourself for sure Jill. With guest posting, you surely can invite guests to post on your blog, but as far as self-promoting goes, you would be better off guest posting on other people’s blogs with a link back to your site.
Hi Sean,
Sites like HubPages, Squidoo and Tumblr give you lots of opportunity to drive traffic to your main site. You can also build backlinks by linking between your pages.
Getting the word out on new posts through the bookmarking sites and any of the micro-blogging sites is really effective. I still get more traffic from the social bookmarking and social networking sites. (I have more work do do when choosing my keywords.)
I feel like I spend more time promoting my stuff than I do writing or creating it. Is this right, Sean?

It sounds like you are learning lots and on the right track Jazz
And yes, on occasion, you may certainly spend more time promoting that writing
Basically, what you are saying is that Promoting Your Affiliate Marketing Pages is all about linking, linking, linking. I am wondering how much use the UWCBlog is in this. If we have Squidoo lenses etc linking to our affiliate sites is it useful to use UWCBlogs to link to the Squidoo etc sites?

I can’t see why not Wal.
I would say definitely Wal. When I first started out I was using a UWCBlog and when I moved onto a self-hosted blog I used the UWCBlogs to link to my primary blogs and also included a few RSS feeds to keep it ticking over. I would say same thing for Squidoo and Hubpages, etc.

Hi Sean
I can see how I really need to start branching out and blog comment on microblogging sites.
Self promotion is a necessity in order to become better known in my area of expertise.
I need to start to build an online presence through the use of free online pages and articles. This way I will start building backlinks which will attract traffic to my site.
I am not fully certain how all of this works but I am learning along the way and starting to realise that the correct use of social media is a very powerful way to self promote and help drive traffic to your site. Would this be correct?
I can easily see the benefits of social bookmarking, , microblogging, guest posting and linking for promoting your affiliate marketing pages. I use at least 3 of those on a regular basis just to promote my personal blogs and the genealogical web site I’m developing.
My lack of understanding relates to what I’m expected to do on sites like Squidoo, HubPages and Tumblr. Do I write new, short articles there that purport to show my expertise (X-spurt: an old drip under pressure) in relation to the products I’m promoting and providing links back to my blogs, web site, whatever? This is an area I’ll have to investigate more.

Hi Sean,
Using article sites like Hubpages, Squidoo & Ezine Articles is a great way to promote your affiliate pages because A they are free & B they are high PR sites that generate quality backlinks for Seo purposes as well.
I am yet to learn how to use micro blogging platforms properly, but looking forward to using them as a part of my internet marketing strategies.
Hi Sean
I do realise that self promotion is a necessity in order to become better known and I do have posts on Hubpages and Squidoo.
My biggest problem these days is finding enough spare time to do things, so some have been put on the back burner till I can get to them.
Having said that I do try to promote my sites as many places as i can
Rita
I can relate to what you are saying. This is where time management is so important. I am wondering if you do have a time management plan to fit in the necessary things in each week.
Even if you could rotate your internet marketing tasks across a fortnight rather than a week to give you more time to achieve the tasks you need to do.
It is so much better to schedule some time for your tasks than no time. Like water drips on a rock, eventually it will start to make a groove. You can make a move to make a groove! How do you like that one Rita.
Hi Sean,
Promoting myself on someones site with a link back to mine does make a lot more sense. Thanks for the clarification, Sean.
Promoting my Affiliate Marketing page is of primary importance. this article has very many great ideas for promoting my page. If I learn them all, like second nature, I can see myself being very happy and very successful as an Affiliate Marketer. Thank-you, Sean.

I am getting a very clear picture about what you have to do to become successful online. Its all about getting your site out there and noticed. Unless you do lots of promoting of your affiliate marketing pages, no one will come and visit and you will make no money. Promote daily will be my new motto.
